Hollow Mountain:

First up is our absolute favourite hike in the Grampians, Hollow Mountain. This is a challenging hike with a lot of elevation gain involved and some moderate scrambling. It had rained the first time we tried to do this hike making it slippy and unsafe so we returned another day. Always check the weather and prioritise your safety.

The hike takes around 1.5-2 hours to complete. At the start of the hike, there is a short 10 min detour to some Aboriginal rock art that is well worth the trip! It then continues with a moderate elevation gain through some bush-land. Keep an eye out for rock Wallabies here!

Top Tips: Don’t make the same mistake we did and remember your bug spray for this one! We also recommend making sure to take Fyans Creek Road if you’re in a 2WD. The Mt Zero track is more direct and doable in a 2WD but is significantly slower.

Pinnacles Lookout:

Perhaps the most popular walk in the Grampians, this one is worth getting an early start to avoid the crowds!

This is another challenging hike with a more moderate elevation gain. It takes approximately 1.5 – 2 hours to complete. The trail will lead you past the Grand Canyon, Cool Chamber, Bridal Veil Falls and Silent Street before opening out to a spectacular viewing platform.

MacKenzie Falls:

Boroka Lookout

This drive in lookout is the perfect spot to watch the sunrise. Bring a camping chair, blanket and a hot coffee and watch the colour flood into the valley and Halls Gap.

Reeds Lookout:

Don’t fancy that early start? Sunset at Reeds lookout is just as spectacular and we found it to be much less busy!

Splitter’s Falls:

Another hour and a half walk with winding paths through more rock formations takes you to Splitters Falls. This walk is much quieter than some of the other water fall walks like MacKenzie Falls so can be a good alternative to avoid the crowds!

Fish Falls:

This walk feels very different to the others within the Grampians, with green and lush surrounds. This walk can takes around an hour and with more shade and swim spots is a great option for a hotter day!

Venus Baths:

Now I have to admit, this one wasn’t our favourite walk when compared with the other options. However, I think after more rainfall it would be much more impressive and a great little swim spot! This walk is also much shorter and more family friendly, only taking 30 minutes.

The Balconies:

This is another much easier walk that still boasts spectacular views! A short 35 minute return walk from the carpark will lead you to the viewpoint.

Halls Gap:

Nestled in the heart of The Grampians, Halls Gap makes the perfect place to base yourself for the weekend. There’s heaps of food options, including our favourites Flame Brothers and Raccolto Pizzaria. There’s also a mix of hotel stays and campsites. If you stroll around Halls Gap in the evening, you’re very likely to see the resident kangaroos!
